Utah Jazz trainer Eric Waters gives tips on stretching

Stretch your way to peak performance

Kobe Bryant employed a team of specialists to stretch his body, especially late in his career after racking up thousands of hours on the hardwood. LeBron James maintains his flexibility with the help of Lakers trainers, as well as a private stretching guru. And two-time Slam Dunk champion Zach LaVine stretches every day before he works out, year-round, employing a variety of stretching machines and other devices.

No matter their age or experience, nearly every NBA player (and every pro athlete, for that matter) sets aside time for stretching. Among its benefits, stretching increases flexibility, prevents sore muscles, and improves your range of motion.

A consistent stretching program is key, says Utah Jazz head athletic trainer Eric Waters, to preventing injury and improving performance.
